1
Clean and mix
- Wash bottle, nipple, and ring in hot soapy water (sterilize for babies under 3 months)
- Boil water, cool to 70°C max, pour into bottle first, then add exact scoops of formula
- Level each scoop with a flat edge — never pack or heap
A countertop steam sterilizer handles a full day of bottles in 6 minutes.
2
Test and feed
- Swirl gently to mix (shaking adds air bubbles that cause gas)
- Cool under running water, test on your inner wrist — lukewarm, not hot
- Hold baby at 45° angle, keep the nipple full of milk to reduce air intake
- Prepared formula is good for 1 hour at room temp — discard after that
Your inner wrist is more temp-sensitive than your fingers.
