How the guides on The Dad Center are written, checked and kept up to date: the pregnancy week pages, articles, checklists, tips and the budget guide.
Who writes our guides
Every guide is edited by Ashirbad Ghosh, founder of The Dad Center and a full-stack software engineer who builds the app and its guides. Ashirbad is not a doctor, nurse or midwife. There is more about Ashirbad on our About page.
How a guide is made
Our guides are drafted with AI tools. Ashirbad then edits each draft and checks its health claims against public health sources before it goes live.
The sources we rely on most are ACOG (the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists), the AAP and its HealthyChildren.org site, the CDC, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, the NIH and the Sleep Foundation. Week pages name the source they rest on, and articles list the sources they cite, so you can check them yourself.
Medical review
Our guides are not reviewed by a doctor, nurse or midwife. Everything on The Dad Center is general information for parents, not medical advice, and it can't account for your family's history.
Your OB, midwife or pediatrician knows your situation: check with them before acting on anything you read here. In an emergency, call 911. Our medical disclaimer has the full version.
Stories and examples
Some articles are told in the first person, as a dad describing his own week or his family's costs. These are composite stories: drawn from common experiences rather than one real person's account, with illustrative details. Each one is labelled as a composite story on the page.
Updates
Each guide shows an "Updated" date. It changes when the text of that page changes, including small fixes, so it tells you how recently the page was last edited.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, outdated advice or a broken source link, email info@thedadcenter.com with the page address. We read every report and fix confirmed errors, and the page's Updated date changes with the fix.
Independence
The Dad Center makes money from app subscriptions. The guides carry no affiliate links and no paid placements. The budget guide names example brands so you can compare prices; brands don't pay to be listed, and we earn nothing if you buy them.
