How your baby is growing this week
Fig size — 1.6 inches. Tooth buds forming under the gums. Skin is translucent — you can see blood vessels through it. Diaphragm developing, practicing breathing movements.
What your partner is going through
Blood volume increasing by 50% over pregnancy — starts now. She may feel warmer than usual, dizzy when standing, or get random nosebleeds. Headaches from the vascular changes are common.
What to focus on this week, dad
- 01Hydration Ops: buy her a 40oz insulated water bottle (Hydroflask, Stanley, whatever). Dehydration causes headaches, cramps, and preterm contractions later
- 02Research NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing) — blood draw that screens for Down syndrome and can reveal gender as early as Week 10. Discuss with her if you want it
